Bliss Is... My 4 Beautiful Children

Bliss is the beauty, amazement and gift of 4 beautiful children.  These 4 beautiful souls who have graced my life with their presence.  3 who stayed, and 1 who left us all too soon, but did stop by for a while to teach with the wisdom of his brief life's presence.

It is not about mourning loss, but celebrating life.  Celebrating how these beautiful children shaped and shifted their lives to sharing their gifts.  Kenny was the teacher, who taught more in 4 and a half months than a professor in tenure, Kevin the guardian, James the clever one, Allison the artist.

Bliss is seeing the seeds that were planted, nurtured, fertilized, sprouted and loved mature into beautiful beings, flowering with gifts to the world.

Bliss Is... My Mom's Garden of Love

As I awaken to the sounds of birdsong trilling in through my open windows, this beautiful morning, I am reminded of all the beautiful flower-filled summers with my mom. Almost daily visits to her home accompanied by walks of admiration of her beautiful gardens fills me with the bittersweet.  The bittersweet of how each walk is one less now with her in this earthly plane.  This beautiful soul who has birthed and nurtured me through my years, now in the waning of her life, is, and has been a rock for me of stability in a rocky world.

I cherish each walk, each moment, each card game that we play.  Each hug a moment of deep communion beyond the distractions of the day.   Each smile like a star being birthed in an endless universe.

Bliss is a mother's love.  Thank you mom!

Bliss is Breathing

Bliss comes in many forms.  It is a sensory reaction to feeling totally at peace, content, pain free, and in the moment.  Bliss is in the breath.  It is this breath, and then the next breath, and the next until we stop.

As a RN, I have seen a lot of first breaths, and last breaths.  And in doing so, I truly have an appreciation for the breath.  The mechanics, the functions, the dysfunctions and the vitality of it all.

I have chosen to live breath by breath, and be a human being; not a human doing.

Living breath by breath is truly a gift.
                                            Now that is BLISS.
